Mas Talaia, an 1806 Masia Renovated With All

A masia is a traditional stone house typical of Catalonia, in northern Spain. Masias were --and are still-- used as farms to live a self-sufficient life in the countryside, and their structure follows the style of Roman-era construction standards.

Mas Talaia is a masia that dates from 1806, and has been tastefully renovated keeping its original charm but offering all the conveniences for modern comfort. The house sleeps up to 15 people in six large bedrooms and six bathrooms.

Outdoors

Swimming pool (10 x 5 m / 32 x 17 ft), very ample garden area with different sitting areas, patio with BBQ, table for 14 for dining al fresco, buffet table, ping pong, badminton, bocce (petanque), basketball, and soccer field with goalie posts. All sport equipment is supplied.

Ground level

Entrance: Large elegant entrance with original terra cotta barrel vault ceiling and terra cotta tile floors. In season: vase with bougainvillea flowers from the house façade.

Spacious open-plan kitchen, eating area and sitting area with chimney and a hand-hewn beamed ceiling: Work area includes a large island convenient for preparing meals or for gathering for a pre-dinner drink and plenty of counter space to prepare large meals or drop off the groceries. Other amenities are a large gas range, a dishwasher, a large refrigerator, plenty of drawers and cupboard space. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, coffee makers, coffee grinder, toasters, plenty of dishes, glasses, mugs, cutlery, large and small pots and frying pans and grills, large and small serving dishes, plastic plates and cups for children or use around the pool, tea towels, hot mitts, trays, etc.

Kitchen sitting area: sofa and rocking chairs in front of a chimney, radio with CD player. CDs supplied.

Spacious living room: Sitting area with 2 sofas and chairs, satellite TV and DVD player, table and chairs for playing cards or table games, pool table, and large library with books in English, Spanish and Catalan.

Downstairs Bedroom # 1: Queen Size bed (160 cm / 63 in), table and chairs and 2 large closets, and large en suite bathroom with tub.

Office: Large table with computer, printer, fax, fast internet, office supplies, and two single beds set up with cushions for resting or additional sleeping.

Laundry room: Large washer and dryer, laundry baskets, ironing table and iron, laundry soap, cleaning supplies, etc.

Upper floor

Enormous distribution hall with hand hewn beams: Antique furniture, table and chairs. Nice wide area to give plenty of space to guests.

Master bedroom # 2: King Size bed (180 cm / 71 in), two-seater sofa for reading, table and chair, two walk-in closets, dresser, and large en suite bathroom with tub and double sinks.

Double bedroom # 3: Queen Size bed (160 cm / 63 in), small bathroom with shower and double sinks, closet and dressers.

Double bedroom # 4: Two Single beds (90 cm / 35 in) which can be zipped together to King size (180cm), large closets and dresser, small bathroom with shower and double sinks.

Double bedroom # 5: Queen Size bed (160 cm / 63 in), ample closet space, dresser, antique bread oven (now as decoration), private bathroom with tub just next to room.

Double bedroom # 6: Two Single beds (90 cm / 35 in) which can be zipped together to King size (180 cm) plus an extra single and very ample closet space. The bathroom, with a bathtub, is also just next door and can be made private by drawing a thick curtain in the hallway just before the room. This room is ideal if there are three adolescents who want to stay up late chatting since it is the furthest from all the other rooms.

All the bedrooms have air conditioning. All windows have screens.
