Peralada: 20 minutes away. Start with the local vineyard of 'Castell de Peralada'. One can visit the museum, the vineyards, the winery and the cellar.

Penedès: Less than 2 hours away. Visit the renowned vineyards of the Penedès wine and cava region: Jean Leon, Albet i Noia, Castellroig, Joan Sardà, Freixenet or Codorniu, among others.

French vineyards: 1 hour away. Visit the vineyards of Roussillon. Taste the reds, whites and Muscats together with some delicious French cheese.

Girona

Jewish Quarter: Visit its narrow streets and the Museum of Jewish History.

Cathedral of Girona: Visit the rare 11th century Tapestry of The Creation and a superb Romanesque Cloister with biblical scenes on the capitals.

Figueres

Dali Museum: 20 minutes away. A unique experience to view many of Dali's works in an atmosphere designed by the artist himself

Medieval Towns

Besalú: 25 minutes. With its spectacular medieval bridge, Besalú was once home to an important Jewish community as the Jewish ritual bath (miqve) testifies.

Pals and Peratallada: 40 minutes. These quaint medieval towns (and many more) are worth visiting.

Sant Pere de Rodes

11th Century Monastery: 30 minutes away. This restored Benedictine monastery is an interesting architectural site with breathtaking views of the sea.

Portbou

Monument to Walter Benjamin: 55 minutes away. Visit Dani Karavan's breathtaking monument to Walter Benjamin.

Banyoles

Outdoor activity around the lake: 20 minutes away. Tennis, rent bikes, jog or stroll around the lake. Visit the plaça Major.

France

Ceret: 30 minutes. Museum of Modern Art: works by Picasso, Matisse, Miró, Chagall, Soutine among others.

Collioure: 45 minutes. Artist's colony on the coast; Museum of Modern Art; Royal Castle (13th-18th centuries).

Perpignan: 45 minutes. Have lunch at the French bistro Café Vienne. Visit the Palace of the Kings of Mallorca.
